A few days ago I left New Zealand to come back to the UK for a while. The running out there has been absolutely awesome with plenty of hills and sights to see.

Throughout this time I have been running in my awesome Brooks Adrenalin shoes that i purchased around 3 years ago now. After 1000s of miles they were well and truly past the recommended wearing time but fared well with some serious mountain walks only just starting to cause massive damage to them.

The price of running shoes in New Zealand (it’s very high!) stopped me from purchasing new shoes whilst there because I knew I would eventually be leaving to a place where technical shoes are more affordable.

So, I threw them away before I packed and got on the plane.

That leaves me shoeless and in a dilema.

I travel a lot so can only really have one pair of shoes. The Adrenalines work great and I have had various models over the years. The last few years though a lot of talk has revolved around new styles of shoes. I did briefly try five fingers but wore a hole in them after 33km! I could try them again and slowly break them in or go with a number of other minimal shoes out there. Or I could play safe and go with the Brooks I know I love!

So I am asking for advice.

What should I do?

When I can be I am a regular runner but I am also nothing special and certainly no elite, so in that respect I am regular too. However I do love talking about running and related things and I do have a lot of experience, over 15 years now.
