I have been playing Zombies Run for sometime now and I love it. If you are wondering what it is well let me tell you. Zombies Run is effectively an interactive audio book and run logger that you play whilst you run. You play each mission along with a run and story intersperses with your chosen music to create a saga that is chilling, funny and gripping. All this whilst logging your run via GPS on your iPhone or iPad. Interactive elements include a small game you play post-run involving distributing supplies you collect on the missions to grow your town and zombie runs which basically have you sprinting to outrun a beep that can occur at pivotal moments during the mission.

You are Runner Number 5. Dropped near the small post zombie apocolypse town of Able after your helicopter was shot down by a rocket launcher you are taken in and used to run for supplies and other things out in the dangerous over run world. You don’t know why you was being choppered in so the beauty of the story is that you are learning along with the characters.
If that has perked your interest you can pick it up on the Apple App Store: Zombies, Run! – Six to Start

Ok, now onto the music. The missions tend to play for a few minutes and then fade into a song. To be honest almost all music seems to be fitting along with the story in some weird way but some tunes resonate better than others and having a killer playlist is absolutely essential for surviving any dangerous missions in a post apocalyptic world.
I Lost My Baby – Jean Le Loup
I know you may be wondering why I am starting with a slow song but they are needed during the longer runs. This song first came in during my early days of having a random playlist. A woman on the radio had to hear a friend turning into a zombie before it started chasing me. As she sobbed and the zombie chase started this song faded in, perfection!
Survive – King Prawn
The lyrics just fit perfect and you gotta have a decent Ska beat to lift your tired legs at time!
Knights of Cyndonia – Muse
A slightly eery song with the perfect feeling to keep you pushing forward.
In the House, In a Heartbeat – John Murphy (from 28 Days Later Soundtrack)
If you have ever seen 28 Weeks Later then maybe you’ll agree with me here. It’s not the best zombie movie ever but has one of the most terrifying opening scenes I have ever seen. As Robert Carlyle battles off the emotions of leaving his wife to be torn apart by zombies he runs for his life in bright daylight as zombies pour over the hill and this song plays. It makes my heart go mental and my adrenalin rush!
For those who want to watch the scene here is it!
Tame – The Pixies
Although this song is about making love the heavy breathing and intensity suits the pain and agony of running away from Zombies particularly well!
Killing in the Name – Rage Against The Machine
I challenge you not to run hard when Rage is banging out of your headphones.
Dead Things – Phillip Glass (Piano Version from the Hours soundtrack)
The world looks different when listen to Phillip Glass, no one manages to rouse such dispair in a song! Put that with zombies on the mind and you’ll have an experience not to forget!
Born to Run – Bruce Springsteen
You may have to trust me on this one but it sounds great whilst running away from a successful supplies mission!
London Calling – The Clash
Great for any occassion but especially for keeping your arms and legs pumping. The dark lyrics help too!
Louder Than Thunder – Scout Niblett
The strained voice and a heavy beat just fit perfectly with the mood and help leep my feet thumping through the mission and beyond.
So that’s my 10 recommendations to add to your Zombies Run playlist. I would love to hear what you listen to whilst playing the game or during any run or exercise.
I look forward to your comments.

Help I’m Alive by Metric is a great addition to a Zombies Run Playlist
Ha ha, good addition!
I’ve found that Coloris, Gum, and Tokyo Nights by She make great tunes to run to! Tighten Up by the Black Keys is pretty good too. I’ll list more as I try them!
Good choices Kashia! Are you going to buy Zombies Run 2?
I already did! I just need to wait until I get a phone that supports it to play, haha. c:
Adding to the list –
There’s a good remix to Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” that I’ve been using. (Freemasons Club Mix).
